Pupil Premium
Purposes of the Pupil Premium Grant*
-
The Government believes that the Pupil Premium, which is additional to main school funding, is the best way to address the current underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their wealthier peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.
-
In most cases the Pupil Premium is allocated to schools and is clearly identifiable. It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium.
-
For pupils from low-income families in non-mainstream settings (special schools, behaviour units for example).
-
Schools are free to spend the Pupil Premium as they see fit. However they will be held accountable for how they have used the additional funding to support pupils from low income families.
This will ensure that parents and others are made fully aware of the attainment of pupils covered by the Premium.

Ofsted Reports
External Monitoring of School Performance
Other external professionals coming into our school to evaluate what we do is an important element of our quality assurance system. They are able to provide a ‘critical eye’ and test out our judgements as to how we think the school is performing, in relation to local and national trends.
External monitoring can take many different forms, however, the most common external judgement on a school is that of an Ofsted Section 5 Inspection (Ofsted is an abbreviation for the Office of Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills), who are an independent organisation reporting directly to Parliament.
Ofsted inspectors not only make judgements on what the school needs to do to improve, they also report on the quality of education in four key areas:
-
Achievement of Pupils
-
Teaching
-
Leadership and Management
-
Behaviour and Safety.
Ofsted Report – June 2025
UK’s first state-funded Hindu-faith school celebrates ‘Outstanding’
We are delighted to share with you the outcome of our recent Ofsted inspection, in which Krishna Avanti Primary School has been graded Outstanding in all areas. This exceptional achievement is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of our entire school community—our learners, staff, families, and wider community.

Ofsted Report – June 2023
I am writing to share some exciting news regarding our recent Ofsted inspection. We have received the official report, and I am thrilled to inform you that we have achieved an excellent outcome, which we have been diligently working towards. I am particularly excited by the opening statement:
‘Krishna Avanti Primary School continues to be a good school. There is enough evidence of improved performance to suggest that the school could be judged outstanding if we were to carry out a graded (section 5) inspection now. The school’s next inspection will be a graded inspection.’
Our school underwent a Section 8 ungraded inspection, and we are immensely proud to have received the best possible outcome. This is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our entire school community, including students, parents, and staff members.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for your continuous support and collaboration on our journey to achieve excellence. Your unwavering commitment to the education and well-being of our pupils has been instrumental in our success.
I would also like to extend a special appreciation to our incredible staff members. Their tireless efforts, passion, and expertise have ensured that we provide the best possible educational experience for the children we serve. It is their dedication that has contributed significantly to our positive Ofsted outcome.
With this achievement, our focus now turns to our next inspection, which will be a Section 5 full graded inspection. This inspection is anticipated to take place within the next 18 months to 2 years. While we celebrate our current success, we remain committed to maintaining and further enhancing the high standards that we have set for ourselves.
As always, we will continue to prioritise the holistic development and academic progress of our pupils. We value your partnership in nurturing their growth and providing them with a safe and stimulating learning environment. Together, we can ensure that every child at our school has the opportunity to excel and reach their full potential.
Once again, I want to express my heartfeltgratitude to each member of our school community. It is through our collective efforts and shared vision that we have achieved this remarkable outcome.
Thank you again for your unwavering support.

Ethos & Values
Our purpose is simple, yet profound: To inspire spiritually compassionate changemakers.
The Avanti Way is the route map for the Avanti family of schools It sets out our purpose and vision, to make clear our highest expectations and commitment to inspiring spiritually compassionate changemakers. Our beliefs are the foundations of our curriculum, pedagogy and ways of working and where our virtues of self-discipline, respect, empathy, integrity, courage and gratitude are lived out, experienced and developed. The metaphor of a Tree of Life presents the roots of spiritual insight, which strengthen the trunk of character formation, which in turn supports the crown of educational excellence and in giving back to our communities.
Promoting British Values at Krishna Avanti Primary School
The Department for Education has published guidance on promoting British values in schools to ensure young people leave school prepared for life in modern Britain.
All schools have a duty to ‘actively promote’ the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs.
Democracy
At Krishna Avanti Primary School, we ensure all pupils within the school have a voice that is listened to. We do this through: communication boxes, pupil surveys, through circle time and through having school Ambassadors. We demonstrate how democracy works by actively promoting democratic processes such as holding elections for our school ambassadors each year. Members are voted for by the pupils. During this time, and during English lessons, children have the opportunity to learn how to argue and defend points of view. Manifestos are displayed to inform the school community of pupil’s points of view in a prominent place within the school.
The Rule of Law
The importance of laws whether they are those that govern the class, the school or the country, are consistently reinforced at Avanti House Primary School. Our school has ‘Golden Expectations’, which are deeply embedded in our work every day. Our pupils are taught the value and reasons behind laws, that they govern and protect us, the responsibilities that this involves and the consequences when laws are broken.
Individual Liberty
Our children are actively encouraged to make choices, knowing that they are in a safe and supportive environment. As a school we provide boundaries for our pupils to make choices safely, through the provision of a safe environment and empowering learning. Our children are encouraged to know, understand and exercise their rights and personal freedoms and are advised how to exercise these safely; examples of this can be clearly seen in our e-safety and P.S.H.E. lessons. Whether it is through choice of challenge; of how they record; of participation in our numerous extra- curricular activities – our pupils are given the freedom to make choices. Choice brings future happiness.
Mutual Respect
Respect is one of the core values of our school and it is deeply embedded in all that we do at the school. The pupils know and understand that it is expected and imperative that respect is shown to everyone – old and young, whatever differences we may have and to everything, however big or small. The core value of respect underpins our work every day both in and out of the classroom and in and out of the school.
Tolerance of Those With Different Faiths And Beliefs
‘The highest result of education is tolerance.’
Helen Keller
Krishna Avanti Primary School enhances pupils understanding of different faiths and beliefs through religious education studies; PSHE work; visits to other schools in different settings to participate in celebrations such as Diwali and Easter, welcoming visitors from other schools and communities and enjoying a depth of study during themed weeks. Beliefs, traditions and customs are studied in depth, with visitors being invited in to our school to enrich and extend our children’s and our community’s understanding. Through this our pupils gain a deep understanding of their place in a culturally diverse society and of their place in our global community.
